Carrie Owen is an accredited Occupational Therapist, program designer, facilitator, researcher, lecturer and author in the field of feeding and related developmental needs of infants, children and teens. Carrie is the owner of Sweet Pea Therapy helping families in the Ottawa area with children who have feeding challenges. In addition to her private practice, she is the coordinator, developer and core team member of the feeding clinics at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

She is embraced by families across Canada for her expertise and nurturing spirit as she provides understanding, advice and professional guidance to families on a wide variety of feeding challenges, from picky eaters to children with complex medical issues. Carrie is also a lactation consultant.

Carrie’s career began in mental health working in the area of parental coaching and support. She has participated actively in providing life skill coaching and parent model based learning. Utilizing tele-health services Carrie has provided Occupational Therapy services across Canada while maintaining professional standards and client privacy
Carrie lectures at Canadian universities and presents professional workshops on feeding strategies and interventions. She has been an International keynote speaker at recognized Pediatric conferences. She is a published researcher in The Journal of Nutrition and Clinical Practice. Carrie has won two of CHEO’s Gold Ribbon awards for Innovation and Stewardship.

CHARLENE KENNEDY
CHARLENE KENNEDYRegistered Dietition
Charlene Kennedy is a Registered Dietitian and expert in the field of pediatric nutrition with almost 20 years of experience. Her career began and continues at The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), where she found her pediatric niche. During her time in oncology at CHEO, she coordinated the Children’s Oncology Group nutrition research studies and was a contributing author for two articles published in the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Charlene is also a past professional practice leader for the group of dietitians at CHEO.

For the past 13 years, Charlene has been caring for complex, tube-fed children in a homecare setting, an area she has found to be her true calling. She considers it to be a privilege to be part of the team caring for these children and has found great joy in this area of dietetics. Known for her down-to-earth nature and realistic approach, Charlene works with children in various stages of the tube-feeding weans on a daily basis.
Charlene also runs a well-established and growing private practice focusing on pediatric nutrition. Well-respected by her dietitian colleagues as a leader in her field and entrepreneur, she is a sought after speaker, collaborator, preceptor and peer-trainer. In addition to her private practice, she is the co-founder of Nutrition Masterclass, which provides online courses for Registered Dietitians wanting to improve their skills and confidence in pediatric nutrition.
